Anonymous domain registration
Register a name without ever stating who you are. No identity check, no card on file, and nothing of yours in the public record — because none of it was collected in the first place.
What "anonymous" actually means here
Most registrars sell something called WHOIS privacy. You hand over a legal name, an address and a card, they store all of it, and then they substitute a proxy contact in the public record. Your details still exist — they have simply been moved one step back, into a database that can be breached, sold with the company, or produced on request.
Offbook works the other way around. The information is never collected. Opening an account takes an email address you invent, a password, and an invite code. There is no name field, no address field, no phone number, and no payment card, because funding is crypto and no processor is involved to demand them.
What was never written down cannot leak.
The name is then registered in our name rather than yours. This is not a mask over your details; there are no details underneath it. You keep operational control — DNS, renewals, and where the name points — from the desk or through the API.
What you give up, and what you do not
It is worth being precise about the trade, because vendors in this category are usually vague about it.
You do not give up control
- Full DNS on every name — A, AAAA, CNAME, TXT, MX, NS, SRV and CAA, with per-record TTLs, at no charge.
- Renewal on your schedule, drawn from your own credit balance.
- API access, so a program you run can manage the name without you in the loop.
You do give up a paper trail
- There is no card on file, so there is no chargeback route and no processor to appeal to.
- There is no recovery-by-identity: nobody can prove they are you to get the account back, which is the point, and also the risk. Keep the credentials.
- Funding is crypto only. There is no invoice to a corporate account and no bank transfer.
How registration works
1 — Fund the account
Every account gets its own dedicated deposit address on each supported chain. Send USDC on Solana, Base or Ethereum and it credits one-for-one — one USDC is one dollar. ETH, BTC and ZEC post at the fill price on confirmation.
2 — Search and quote
Search a bare word and Offbook fans it out across the catalog rather than checking a handful of popular endings and giving up. Results default to what is actually available, and every row carries the price you would pay, not a wholesale figure.
3 — Register from credit
The purchase is quoted before it runs and drawn from your balance. If the balance is short the call is refused and nothing is charged — there is no overdraft.
Common questions
Can I register a domain anonymously?
Yes. Offbook does not ask who you are at any point. An account is an email address you choose, a password, and an invite code — no legal name, no phone number, no payment card, and no identity documents.
The name itself is registered in our name rather than yours, so the public record has nothing of yours to disclose. You keep operational control of the name from the desk or the API.
Do you require KYC or identity verification?
No. There is no identity check because there is no payment processor demanding one — funding is crypto only, so no bank ever sits between you and the account.
Whose name appears in the WHOIS record?
Ours. This is not a WHOIS privacy add-on layered over your details — your details were never collected, so there is nothing underneath the mask.
What do you log?
Activity is not recorded. There is no history of what you searched, what you resolved, or what you pointed a record at — which means there is no such history to leak, sell, or be compelled to produce.
What necessarily exists is the ledger: the deposits that funded the account and the purchases that drew it down, because that is the account balance itself.
Is DNS included?
Yes, and it is not billed. Records live beside the name they serve, and the editor handles A, AAAA, CNAME, TXT, MX, NS, SRV and CAA records with per-record TTLs.
